I may have missed something, but .... Is there any chance of an explanation for why the xpath WD jumped to using child::... instead of from-children(....) ? Also, there is no mention of a for loop construct - despite suggestions that it could be implemented without breaking the side-effect free goal. I presume that this was discussed and eliminated (rather than ignored). Is it possible to find out the specific reasons why the WG decided against this ?
