XSL is (XSLT + XSL Formatting Objects), which for historical reasons but not technical reasons are closely associated with each other. Microsoft still use the term "XSL" to refer to their early non-standard implementation of a draft XSLT specification, which other people call WD-xsl. Michael Kay
