Hi there
Virtools courses will be held in NYC,
2002.
The course is an introduction to the
virtual reality experience and to the construction of networked virtual reality
environments. Participants create their own 3-D game and how to build
an immersive installation using virtual reality
environments. Participants explore the renewal of perception made possible
by VR and how to bring VR environments to the level of personal computers (PC
and Mac) using internet based 3D interactive tools. The course covers
user-responsive virtual environments from 3D chat rooms to artificial
intelligence simulators, from advanced character animation to real-time special
effects. Participants will engage the production of non-linear storyboards
for 3-D games, the creation of a database of reusable assets including cameras,
lights, models, animations, sounds, textures, animated characters with
behaviors, the programming of behavioral interactions inside virtual worlds,
serial communication and the design and testing of a user interface.
Participants with no prior knowledge of programming can focus on content rather
than coding by using special sets of modular behaviors inside their original
artwork. The course includes in
depth tutorials using Virtools, 3DMax, Lightwave, Havok and Macromedia
Director 8.5.
Each session represents 12 classes of 150
minutes during six weeks with weekly assignments. The first session
starts on May 20 th and the second starts on July 1st . The
number of participants for each session is limited.
The instructor is Jean-Marc Gauthier. He is
the author of the book about Virtools called "Creating Interactive 3D
Actors and their Worlds, without writing code". For more information about the courses contact
