XSL FO spec progress?

Just curious, is work still being done on the formatting objects for XSL?
If so, what is the status of this work? I'd imagine that work on this
might be held up, waiting for XML Schema to mature, but it seems like it
is becoming more and more desirable to have a direct path to print
(instead of through LaTeX, most commonly) or to the web (instead of
through HTML)... What sort of issues are being discussed? Again, just
curious :)
